A 32-year-old undergraduate, Chizoba Nwabuwa, has been arrested by operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency after he was caught with 25 wraps of ingested cocaine in condoms.
Enugu Airport Commander of NDLEA, Nsikak-Abasi Udoh, said: “Nwabuwa was arrested during the inward screening of passengers on an Ethiopian flight from Brazil.
“The suspect excreted 25 wraps of a liquid substance that tested positive for cocaine, weighing 1.250kg. This is the first drug seizure to be made at the airport; it is exciting because we have just commenced operations.”
Asked why he decided to engage in such shameful trade, Chizoba said:
“I wanted to use the N500, 000 they promised to pay me in developing my art gallery. They assured me in Brazil that authorities will not be able to detect liquid cocaine, so I was confident.”
He claimed that he is a 400 level student of Fine and Applied Arts
at the Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Anambra State but needs money
desperately.
From all indications, his degree has been suspended as he may end up in prison.
