Robber arrested after returning to shop to get her phone

A woman who robbed a shop in Sunderland while claiming she had a gun was arrested after she returned to the scene to retrieve her phone.
Amanda McGorian escaped with some cash following the raid on the Spar on Chester Road but returned 15 minutes later when she realised she had dropped her handset.
‘Can I just get my phone and say sorry to the lasses,’ she told the police officers at the scene, who then promptly arrested her.
The 27-year-old had demanded money from two female workers on September 29.
McGorian, of Penshaw, received an eight-month sentence at Newcastle Crown Court, which has been suspended for two years.
She will also be supervised, have a curfew and be forced to go on an alcohol recovery programme after Judge James Goss told her she had perpetrated ‘a drunken and stupid criminal act’.
He added: ‘Not only did you cause considerable fear to the young girls who were looking after that shop, performing a public service, but you did your level best to get yourself locked up by doing that.
‘You didn’t have a gun but they weren’t to know that and you can imagine they would be frightened by you making that threat in the circumstances.’
